Established in 1927, Woking Referees Society is arguably the leading RA in Surrey.

With a membership of over 90 members, the Society is in a very healthy position as it continues to drive forward with its support and development of all levels of Match Official within the local and wider county community. We currently boast officials ranging from Level 7 all the way through to the Football League.

Between the months of August and May, the Society holds monthly meetings where members can get together to discuss and learn even more about the art of refereeing. These meetings take place on the first Monday of every month – unless a Bank Holidays falls in which case it becomes the second Monday – at Meadow Sports F.C., Loop Road, Woking and they are usually attended by a minimum of 30-35 members.
At each meeting we take great pride in hosting a guest speaker and these speakers range from grassroots referees to Premier League and International officials. All these events are hugely popular with lots of video clips, interaction and learning for everyone; they’re so popular that we often see colleagues from other local societies coming along to join us!!

Before the start of each monthly meeting, we run (courtesy of our National FA-trained Referee Developers) an Academy for all levels of officials within our membership and is completely free of charge to members. These comprise of practical learning and development sessions on the 4G pitch at Meadow Sports. All you need to be a part of these sessions is yourself, suitable training kit and a whistle/yellow & red card – the rest we can do for you.
These sessions are again always well-attended and are a great way to continue to learn and grow in between your weekend and midweek matches.

On top of all the above, members receive each month either a hard copy or electronic copy of our society magazine, The Warbler.
Again, this is the envy of many other local RAs’, and the publication is always fun and informative – a great read to focus all our members for the month ahead.

Finally, we take Safeguarding very seriously at our Society and we have a dedicated Safeguarding lead (and wider team) within our membership who is always available to discuss any incidents or concerns members may have.

The Committee at Woking Referees Society are constantly working hard to drive the Society forward and the only way we can do this is by continuous growth and by attracting new members, whatever their age, gender, or ability. We are a fully inclusive and friendly Society that ensures football truly is FOR ALL.
